Working Ranch Cowboys Association - Renews Contract with City of Amarillo Texas, Dedicates the 2009 World Championships and Sets a New Goal.

The WRCA announces a three year agreement to keep the World Championship Ranch Rodeo in the Amarillo Civic Center through 2012.  The 2009 World Championship will be dedicated to the Women of Ranching.  “This dedication will give us the opportunity to recognize the women that have contributed so much to the industry and the families of ranching” says Randall Whipple, President of the WRCA.  “Our organization has grown to the point where we are making a difference in many people’s lives and we can now thank those who have done so much.”

New to the World Championship Ranch Rodeo in 2009 will be hosting all of the horses at the Amarillo Civic Center.   “Now you will be able to see all of the Cowboy’s horses as well as the Budweiser Clydesdales at the Civic Center each day.  Entry to see the horses, events and exhibits will continue to be no charge.  We will only require a ticket for the rodeo” states Mandy Morton, WRCA Association Manager.

A new goal for the Association is to create a Retirement Ranch.  This will provide the cowboy that has worked on a ranch all of his life an opportunity to live out his life on a working ranch.   After retirement, too many cowboys are forced to sell his horses and move to town.  The WRCA’s Retirement Ranch will provide a place to continue riding, working cattle as well as medical care.

The WRCA uses Ranch Rodeo to bring attention to our cause and to generate money for our Foundation. We sanction the finest Ranch Rodeos across North America to bring the top Ranch Teams to the World Championship Ranch Rodeo held in Amarillo Texas the second weekend in November. Help in Times of Crisis – We provide funds for Working Ranch Cowboys and their families in times of need. Our support is confidential and requests generally come from neighbors, family and friends. The Working Ranch Cowboys Foundation has been helping people for 14 years.  Scholarships – The WRCF provides school funding support for Working Ranch Cowboys and their children. We currently have 32 Students in our program. The Foundation grows every year as does the number of Students we can support.
