See what all went on during the WCRR on Saturday!

Bubba Smith of the Tongue River Ranch marks his cow in the team doctoring event. His team stopped the clock at 46.50 seconds.

It was obvious how much fun Ally Parker and her dad, Kevin, were having during Pokey’s Junior Ranch Rodeo World Championship, held during WRCA’s “big” championship ranch rodeo. Ally, 8, of Beaver, Okla., has cerebral palsy, and over the last three years, rodeo fans have seen her progress from leaning heavily on her father to walking completely on her own.

Ally Parker and her teammates were honored as heroes during the Saturday evening rodeo performance. Not only does Ally show remarkable spunk, but her teammates – her sisters and stepsister – are also very special. They happily give Ally a spot on their junior ranch rodeo team, despite the fact that she can’t run as fast as other kids. The other teammates are Abby Parker, Anna Parker and Becca Brown. AQHA Executive Committee Member Johannes Orgeldinger is presenting the custom buckles engraved with “WRCA Junior Ranch Rodeo Hero.”

During the Junior Ranch Rodeo finals, the national anthem was sung by 6-year-old triplets Jacob, Jill and Joshua Stephenson of Amarillo, Texas. The three – who also participated in the fast-paced competition – were particularly heartwarming since they had a very rough beginning in life, being born at 27 weeks. The smallest weighed just 1 pound, 3 ounces at birth.

Pokey the Clown, aka Doug Smith, has a clown in training – his grandson, Blake Smith of Southlake, Texas, who has a persona as Clyde the Clown.

The American Quarter Horse Association and Bayer Animal Health presented their Best Remuda Award during the Saturday night rodeo. The winning S Ranch of Billings, Montana, is operated by the Scott family, which began raising Quarter Horses in 1925 – before AQHA even existed.

Robert and Lisa Langford show off their new horse, Peppy Sandee Bar, whom they purchased for $1,300 in the Crisis & Scholarship auction. At right is Jared Taylor of Amarillo, Texas, who donated the yearling filly.
