2010 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

Working ranch cowboys are tough, tenacious and resourceful. And those words also describe leaders, people who see us through tough times.

The Working Ranch Cowboys Foundation is honored to award a $1,000 scholarship to students who meets that definition, as well.

WRCF was able to assist a total of 32 students this year, with a total funding package of $35,500. It is a true honor to help educate the ranch managers, veterinarians and agriculture professionals of the future, as well as those who will serve key roles in their rural communities. That’s how we know the ranching industry will continue to prosper — with leaders like these at the helm.

There’s no doubt, ranch kids grow up with incredible work ethics. The same perseverance that sends these kids out to bust ice or drop feed on a sub-zero morning will also get them through the ups and downs of college life – and far beyond. It is WRCF’s great pleasure to help make higher education a reality for 33 deserving children or spouses of working ranch cowboys. A total of $36,000 was awarded in scholarships for 2009, and our gratitude goes to all the donors who made that possible.

What does the ranching industry need to secure a successful future? The answer’s simple: It’s bright, ambitious young people who are committed to this way of life – the veterinarians, ranch managers and marketing professionals of the future.

The Working Ranch Cowboys Association is proud to help deserving young people make their way toward those professions. This year, the Working Ranch Cowboys Foundation awarded $31,000 worth of scholarships to 27 children of working ranch cowboys. It’s a mission that is becoming bigger and better every year: In 1998, just four $500 scholarships were given out.
